Crowdfunding

A massive thank you from the directors of Belhaven Surf Centre to the huge list below of supporters in the surf community of this project. The crowdfunder raised £7800 from over 120 donations. This money was used towards furniture for the education and changing rooms (its helped build custom benches used by the clubs and source chairs ). It also paid for the beach safety equipment (first aid bag for the building, stretcher and defibulator) alongside new centre yoga equipment (blocks and matts), and supported the purchase of two televisions (including a state of the art 80inch flat screen television) that will be used for sports performance, talks, surf films and educational presentations. Its also helped us stock with basics such as toiletres, kitchen utensils and building safety equipment (fire extinguishers) and a security system for the building.

It was always our intention to record our gratitude in some permanent way to the many organisations and private individuals who provided us with the funds to build the Belhaven Surf Centre and support the crowdfunder.
We settled on the idea of an artwork and commissioned T. Cottee (TCotteeArt.com) to carry this out.
We envisaged the design would incorporate all the names of the individuals and organisations whose financial contributions had made the centre a reality.  The artist duly did this for us, creating his amazing “Wave”.
We embarked on a mural using the design to be placed on the wall (floor to ceiling) outside the changing rooms.  This way we can be confident that most people using the centre – when we can fully open again – will see the design! The mural uses a special wall covering made by Muraspec with help installing by the manufacturer’s technical manager, who made a special journey from the Midlands to help us get the mural up.
The costs of the mural have also been covered by an additional individual donation.

To mark the occasion we have also agreed with the artist that BSC will do a small limited signed edition print run of the design and all proceeds other than the cost of materials go to the BSC charity.
Only 45 of these prints (including the original large print we have) will ever be produced.

A limited run of print copies of this unique artwork can be ordered – please send us an email and what size of print (see below) and include delivery address if not picking up in person.
Two sizes are available.  The smaller one (200mm x 200mm) will be provided with a mount and will cost £20 plus pp.  The larger one, (390mm x 390mm) is £40 plus pp.  If you’d like to buy one then please email us at belhavensurfcentre@gmail.com.  Please say what size of print (see above) and include the delivery address if not picking up in person. Payment can be made by bacs to ”Belhaven Surf Centre” and we can either deliver (p&p at cost) or pick up can be arranged from the surf centre.

Thanks once again to all of the funders, private donors and individuals who made this building a reality.

Our original crowdfunding video and the history of the project. With a list below to all those that contributed. Massive thank you to all you. Wealso have a specially commissioned art work to be displayed in the centre (in thanks to those that funded us) when we hopefully open later in 2021. Names of all the crowdfunders below.
